A Christian Doesn’t Believe The Flesh Can Do Good

Rom 7:18 For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. (I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.)

Everyone has the ability to want to do good, but everyone does not have the ability to do good, the flesh is evil and can never do good, the book of Romans makes that very clear.

Freewill is being able to do good or evil, now if Romans 3:12 says that no one does good, then clearly God did not give anyone freewill.

Romans 3:10 – As it is written, None is righteous, just {and} truthful {and} upright {and} conscientious, no, not one.

Romans 3:11 – No one understands [no one intelligently discerns {or} comprehends]; no one seeks out God.

Romans 3:12 – All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong {and} have become unprofitable {and} worthless; no one does right, not even one!

In the world today there are many people that claim to be Christian that say, “it is up to you to do good, that you have the freewill to do good or evil, that God gave everyone the freewill to do good or evil”, but the Bible does not agree with that teaching.

Paul was born of the Spirit, and Paul never said he had the freewill to do good, now if Paul never said he had the freewill to do good, then why do so many people that claim to be Christian say, “God gave everyone freewill, that everyone has the freewill to do good or evil”?

Paul said that he had the desire to do good, but he could not do good because there is nothing good in the flesh, that the flesh is what made him sin and the Holy Spirit is what made him obey God.

Romans 7:18 – For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. [I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.]

Romans 7:19 – For I fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am [ever] doing.

Romans 7:20 – Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer I doing it [it is not myself that acts], but the sin [principle] which dwells within me [fixed and operating in my soul].

Romans 7:21 – So I find it to be a law (rule of action of my being) that when I want to do what is right {and} good, evil is ever present with me {and} I am subject to its insistent demands.

Romans 7:22 – For I endorse {and} delight in the Law of God in my inmost self [with my new nature].

Romans 7:23 – But I discern in my bodily members [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law (rule of action) at war against the law of my mind (my reason) and making me a prisoner to the law of sin that dwells in my bodily organs [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh].

Romans 7:24 – O unhappy {and} pitiable {and} wretched man that I am! Who will release {and} deliver me from [the shackles of] this body of death?

Romans 7:25 – O thank God! [He will!] through Yeshua the Messiah (the Anointed One) our Lord! So then indeed I, of myself with the mind {and} heart, serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

The Holy Spirit is the mind of the Messiah (1 Cor. 2:16), therefore Paul served the law of God (Romans 7:25) by the Holy Spirit that lived in Paul. The flesh made Paul sin (Romans 7:20), and the Holy Spirit made Paul not sin (Phil 2:13 & 1 John 5:18).

1 Cor. 2:16 – For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we [those who are born of the Spirit] have the mind of the Messiah.

Philippians 2:13 says that it is God that works in those who are born of the Spirit, that God, by the Holy Spirit makes a person do good. The Bible was written to the church, therefore Philippians 2:13 is only a word for those who are born of the Spirit.

Philippians 2:13 –  [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for the good pleasure {and} satisfaction {and} delight.

1 John 5:18 – We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God [born of the Spirit] does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over {and} protects him [Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him {or} touch [him].

In the world today there are many people that claim to be Christian that say, “it is up to you to do good, that you have the freewill to do good or evil, that God gave everyone the freewill to do good or evil”, but the Bible does not agree with that teaching.

Freewill is being able to do good or evil. Romans 3:12 makes it very clear that no one does good, and Philippians 2:13 makes it very clear that it is God that makes those who are born of the Spirit do good, therefore the teaching that says, “God gave man freewill” is false.

A Christian is someone that is led by the Holy Spirit, no one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say, “God gave man freewill”, because that does not agree with what the Bible says. No one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say something that does not agree with what the Bible says.

If someone claims to be Christian and says something that does not agree with the truth that is written in the Bible, the person is not led by the Holy Spirit, the person is led by the flesh, those who are led by the flesh are not the children of God.

Romans 8:14 – For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

In the world today there are many people that claim to be Christian that say it is ok for there to be different denominations in the church, that it is ok for a Christian to believe something different than what another Christian believes, but the Bible does not support different denominations in the church, 1 Corinthians 1:10 says that the church is supposed to believe the same thing.

1 Cor. 1:10 – But I urge {and} entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that all of you be in perfect harmony {and} full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions {or} factions {or} divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions {and} judgments.
