In Eph 2:1 the Greek word for “dead” means “a corpse, lifeless, a dead body, inoperative to the things of God”, Eph 2:1 proves the truth that no one by freewill is made alive in Christ.
Ephesians 2:1 – And you hath He [God] quickened [made alive], who were dead [a corpse, lifeless, a dead body, inoperative to the things of God] in trespasses and sins;
Ephesians 2:4 – But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us [those who are born of the Spirit],
Ephesians 2:5 – even when we [those who are born of the Spirit] were dead [lifeless] in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you [those who are born of the Spirit] have been saved),
Ephesians 2:1 gives the answer to why Christ said in John 6:65, “no one can come to me unless it has been granted from God.” The flesh is dead to the things of God, that is why God has to give a person the faith to believe in Christ.
But faith alone is not enough for someone to be made alive in Christ, the step that makes a person alive in Christ is the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the baptism in the Holy Spirit is what resurrects a person from the dead, the baptism in the Holy Spirit is what makes a person stop practicing sin, the Holy Spirit is what makes a person a new creation, without the Holy Spirit, no one can be made alive in Christ.
So, before anyone can believe in Christ, God must first give a person the faith to believe in Christ, then for someone to be made alive in Christ, God must baptize the person in the Holy Spirit, there are 2 steps that make a person born from above (made alive in Christ), and God is the one that makes the choice in who believes in Christ and in who is made alive in Christ, only those who are made alive in Christ are the children of God.
The Christian church are the people that are alive in Christ, those that believe Yeshua is the Messiah that no longer practice sin are the Christian church.
The Christian church is not as big as people have been led to believe, many people that claim to be Christian believe in Christ, but they don’t stop practicing sin, which means that they are not made alive in Christ. Those who are made alive in Christ are not supposed to associate with anyone that claims to be Christian that practices sin.

In the world today there are many people that claim to be Christian that say, “if you believe in Christ, you will go to heaven”, but that doesn’t agree with what the Bible says.
A Christian is someone that is led by the Holy Spirit, no one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say,”if you believe in Christ, you will go to heaven”, because that doesn’t agree with what the Bible says. No one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say something that doesn’t agree with what the Bible says.
If someone claims to be Christian and says something that doesn’t agree with the truth that is written in the Bible, the person is not led by the Holy Spirit, the person is led by the flesh, those who are led by the flesh are not the children of God.
Romans 8:14 – For all who are led by the Spirit of God [the Holy Spirit] are the children of God.
In the world today there are many people that claim to be Christian that say it is ok for there to be different denominations in the church, that it is ok for a Christian to believe something different than what another Christian believes, but the Bible does not support different denominations in the church, 1 Corinthians 1:10 says that the church is supposed to believe the same thing.
1 Cor. 1:10 – But I urge {and} entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that all of you be in perfect harmony {and} full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions {or} factions {or} divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions {and} judgments.

Great post. It all boils down to the attitude of the heart. I believe it is James 2:14 that says even the demons believe in Jesus. That was in context of demonstrating your faith through works. If you have been truly born again, you would not have the desire to persist in sin. The remainder of your life would be a period of sanctification. Do you chase after your sin? Do you justify or rationalize your sin? That would be evidence of an unsaving faith.
We all have our struggles. Are we to put our trust in Christ or give up? To continue to live an unrepentant lifestyle is an exercise in faithlessness.
