2 Pet 3:7 isn’t about the planet being destroyed by fire, it’s about people being destroyed by fire, after the nations (heathen world) destroyed Jerusalem, the ungodly people were destroyed by fire.
In 2 Peter 3:6, the Greek word for “world” is “kosmos”, “kosmos” means ” the world, universe; worldly affairs; the inhabitants of the world; adornment.”
Since Noah wasn’t killed in the flood, God didn’t destroy the planet, 2 Peter 3:6 isn’t saying God destroyed the planet in the flood, 2 Peter 3:6 is saying God destroyed the people in the flood, likewise 2 Peter 3:7 isn’t talking about the planet being destroyed by fire, 2 Peter 3:7 is talking about people being destroyed by fire, the “ungodly people” that are spoken of in 2 Peter 3:7 were destroyed by fire immediately after Jerusalem was destroyed. Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD, “the day of the Lord” happened immediately after Jerusalem was destroyed (Matt 24:29-30).
2 Peter 3:6 is talking about the flood
2 Peter 3:6 – Through which the world [kosmos – the inhabitants of the world] that then [existed] was deluged with water and perished.
The words “heavens and earth” in 2 Peter 3:7 are referring to the world system, they are not referring to the planet. The ungodly people were the world system that God destroyed by fire, that world system was destroyed immediately after Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD.
2 Pet 3:7 – But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been stored up (reserved) for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly people.
2 Pet 3:10 – But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish (pass away) with a thunderous crash, and the [material] elements [of the universe] will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.
2 Peter 3:10 is talking about the 2nd world system being destroyed, that happened immediately after Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD, we do not live in the 2nd world system.
The day of the Lord that is written about in the New Testament has already happened.
We are in the 3rd world system, the time before the flood was the 1st world system, the time after the flood to the time to the day of the Lord was the 2nd world system, and the time after the day of the Lord to now is the 3rd world system, the Bible was not written about our time period.
We are not in the last days.
The teaching that says, “the day of the Lord hasn’t happen” is false.
The teaching that says, “we are in the last days” is false.
The teaching that says, “the gospel has to be preached to everyone on the planet and then the planet will be destroyed” is false.
