Revelation 13, The Number Of The Beast = Nero

The number of the beast that is spoken of in Rev 13:18 is a number of a man, that man is Nero Caesar. The “beast” that is spoken about in Rev 13:1 is the Roman Empire led by Nero Caesar.

The English translation of Rev 13 says that the beast is a “he”, but the Greek word “therion” for the English word “beast” in Rev 13 is neuter gender, the Greek word “therion” means “a wild beast, animal”, therefore the “beast” is an “it”, not a “he”.

There are 2 beasts in Rev 13, both are neuter gender. The first beast in Rev 13 is the Roman Empire led by Caesar, the beast (the Roman Empire) is an “it” and Caesar is a “he.”

The second beast in Rev 13 is the false prophet

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten crowns, and upon its heads the name of blasphemy.

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and its feet were as the feet of a bear, and its mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave it its power, and its seat, and great authority.

The dragon is Rome that persecuted the church in Rev 12.

The dragon (Rome) was a deceiver, false accuser, and adversary of the church, that is why Rev 12:9 says the dragon is, “that old serpent, called the devil (false accuser), and satan (adversary)”.

The serpent in Genesis 3 deceived Eve, the dragon was a deceiver like the serpent, the dragon wasn’t the serpent that deceived Eve. Everything after Rev 4:1 is a prophetic word about the future during the time of the seven churches, therefore Rev 12:9 can’t be talking about something that happened before the creation of man.

Rev 12:9 is talking about a future event that would happen during the time that the seven churches were alive.

The Greek word “diabolos” for the word “devil” means “false accuser”, Rome was a false accuser of the church, that’s why the dragon is called the devil in Rev 12:9.

The Greek word “satanas” for the word “satan” means “adversary”, Rome  was the adversary of the church, that’s why the dragon is called “satan” in Rev 12:9.

Anyone that is a deceiver is like the serpent that deceived Eve, and anyone that is a false accuser, is a devil, and anyone that is an adversary, is a satan.

The Bible doesn’t support the teaching that says, “the devil, satan is a fallen angel,” therefore the “dragon” in Revelation is not a fallen angel, the “dragon” is Rome.

Rev 1:1 makes it very clear that everything in Revelation was to happen quickly, and that everything that is written in Revelation is about things that happened after Christ’s resurrection, therefore nothing in Revelation 12 is about before the creation of man, or about before the birth of Christ.

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Yeshua Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass [take place in quickness]

The Greek word “tachei” for the word “shortly” in Rev 1:1 means “quickness, speed, hastily, immediately”

Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in the heaven [the sky]! And the first voice which I had heard addressing me like [the calling of] a war trumpet said, Come up here, and I will show you what must take place in the future.

The Greek word “ouranou” for “heaven” in Rev 4:1 is singular, that means that the word “heaven” in Rev 4:1 is not talking about the place where God dwells, instead it is talking about the “sky”, if the Greek word were plural then that would be talking about the place where God dwells.

Many people that claim to be Christian say Rev 4:1 is talking about the rapture of the church, but the Greek word for “heaven” meaning “sky” in Rev 4:1 proves that teaching is false.

The “future” that is spoken about in Rev 4:1, is the future during the time of the seven churches, not our future.

The “beast” in Rev 13:1 is the Roman Empire led by Nero Caesar, the dragon (Rome), gave the Roman Empire led by Nero its power, its seat, and its great authority.

God made Nero commit Suicide in June AD 68, after Nero’s death, the Roman Empire nearly collapsed, it was only when Vespasian came to power in AD 69, that the Roman Empire became stabilized and more powerful than ever.

Rev 13:3 And I saw one of its heads as it were wounded to death [Nero’s death]; and its deadly wound was healed [the Roman Empire led by Vespasian]: and all the world [all the earth] wondered after the beast [the Roman Empire led by Vespasian].

In Rev 13:3, the Greek text does not say, “all the world”, it says, “all the earth.”

The Greek word “” (ghay) for the word “earth” in Rev 13:3 is referring to “to the inhabitants of a region”, it is not referring to the entire planet.The inhabitants of the region, were those who lived in the Roman world. Rev 13:3 is not saying, “everyone on earth wondered after the beast (the Roman Empire).

Rev 13:3 is saying, “and all the inhabitants of the region (the Roman world) wondered after the beast (the Roman Empire).

Rev 13:4 And they worshiped the dragon [Rome] which gave power to the beast [the Roman Empire led by Nero in Rev 13:1]: and they worshiped the beast [the Roman Empire led by Vespasian], saying, Who is like unto the beast [the Roman Empire]? who is able to make war with it?

Rev 13:5 And there was given to it [the Roman Empire] a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given to it [the Roman Empire] to continue forty and two months.

“It’s a historical fact that Nero began to persecute the Christians throughout the Roman Empire in mid-November 64 AD. This intense persecution only ended when Nero committed suicide in June 68 AD. Thus he made war on the saints for a period of exactly 42 months.” – taken from “kloposmasm.com”

Rev 13:6 And it [the Roman Empire] opened its mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in the heaven [the sky].

The Greek word “ouranou” for “heaven” in Rev 13:6 is singular, that means that the word “heaven” in Rev 13:6 is not talking about the place where God dwells, instead it is talking about the “sky”, if the Greek word were plural then that would be talking about the place where God dwells.

Rev 13:7 And it [the Roman Empire] was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and authority was given it over every tribe, and tongue, and nation [people].

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth [the land] shall worship it [the Roman Empire], whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb [Christ] slain from the foundation of the world.

The Greek word “” (ghay) for the words “the earth” in Rev 13:8 is referring to “land”, it is not referring to the entire planet.

Rev 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

Rev 13:10 He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword [a short sword or dagger] must be killed with the sword [a short sword or dagger]. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

The Greek word ” machaira” for “sword” in Rev 13:10 means “short sword or dagger mainly used for stabbing”.

Nero committed suicide with the assistance of his scribe, by stabbing himself in the neck using a dagger.

Next, John talks about another beast, the second beast in Rev 13 is the false prophet that is cast in the lake of fire in Rev 19:20.

Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth [the land]; and it had two horns like a lamb, and it spake as a dragon [Rome].

The Greek word “” (ghay) for the words “the earth” in Rev 13:11 is referring to “land”, it is not referring to the entire planet.

Rev 13:12 And it exercises all the power of the first beast [the Roman Empire] in the presence of it [the Roman Empire], and causes the earth [the inhabitants of the region (the Roman world)] to worship the first beast [the Roman Empire], whose deadly wound was healed [the Roman Empire led by Vespasian].

The Greek word “” (ghay) for the words “the earth” in Rev 13:12 is referring to “to the inhabitants of a region”, it is not referring to the entire planet.

Rev 13:13 And it [the second beast (the false prophet)] works great signs, so that it makes fire come down from the heaven [the sky] to the earth [the land] in the sight of men,

The Greek word “ouranou” for “heaven” in Rev 13:13 is singular, that means that the word “heaven” in Rev 13:13 is not talking about the place where God dwells, instead it is talking about the “sky”, if the Greek word were plural then that would be talking about the place where God dwells.

The Greek word “” (ghay) for the words “the earth” in Rev 13:13-14 is referring to “land”, it is not referring to the entire planet.

Rev 13:14 And it [the second beast (the false prophet)] deceives them that dwell on the earth [the land] by the means of those miracles which it had power to do in the sight of the beast [the Roman Empire]; saying to them that dwell on the earth [the land], that they should make an image to the beast [the Roman Empire], which had the wound by a sword [Nero’s death], and did live [the Roman Empire led by Vespasian].

“Nero committed suicide before he could be captured and flogged to death. Revolts in Gaul and Spain had promised to bring Nero’s reign to an end. Almost all his staff deserted him. Nero tried to kill himself, but required the assistance of his scribe, Epaphrodite, to stab himself in the neck. Nero died at the age of 32.” – taken from “ancienthistory.about.com”

Nero was stabbed in the neck using a dagger. Rev 13:10 says, “he who kills by a short sword or dagger, will die by a short sword or dagger.”

Rev 13:15 And it [the second beast (the false prophet)] had power to give life to the image of the beast [the Roman Empire], that the image of the beast [the Roman Empire] should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast [the Roman Empire] should be killed.

Rev 13:16 And it [the second beast (the false prophet)] causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slaves, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, except he that had the mark, or the name of the beast [the Roman Empire], or the number of its name.

Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast [the Roman Empire] for it is the number of a man [Nero]; and its number is Six hundred and sixty-six.

In Rev 13:18 John shows who the beast is by using numbers, the numbers of Nero’s name =  666, by using a number to letter code called gematria, John was telling the seven churches that Revelation was written to, that the Roman Empire led by Nero is the beast of Rev 13:1, without saying Nero’s name.

The numerical values of the Hebrew letters of Neron Kesar (Nero Caesar) = 666.

A Hebrew spelling of Nero Caesar’s name was Nrwn Qsr.

N = 50
R =  200
W = 6
N = 50
Q = 100
S = 60
R = 200

The “mark of the beast” that is written about in Rev 13:16, means that the people pledge their allegiance to the beast, those who pledged their allegiance to Caesar, pledged their allegiance to the Roman Empire, those who pledged their allegiance to the Roman Empire, wore the mark of the Roman Empire, the number of the beast is not a “microchip”. The number of the beast has nothing to do with our time period.

The mark of the beast means that those who pledge allegiance to the Roman Empire, wear the mark of the Roman Empire, in Rev 13:1, the Roman Empire is led by Nero, God made Nero commit suicide in AD68, but all the people who continued to pledge their allegiance to the Roman Empire, wore the mark of the Roman Empire long after God had Nero kill himself.

The death of Nero was very significant, with the death of Nero, the Julio-Claudian line of emperors perished from the earth. The blood line that had given birth to, extended, stabilized, brought prosperity to, and had received worship from the Roman Empire was cut off forever. It wasn’t until Vespasian gained power in AD69 that the Roman Empire was revived and became more powerful than ever.

During the time that revelation was written Nero was in power, John used the number six hundred and sixty-six to show the seven churches that the beast is the Roman Empire, Revelation was a prophetic word for the seven churches and no one else, the number of the beast is Nero, Nero was the leader of the Roman Empire, however, the beast existed after Nero killed himself.

Clearly the Roman Empire led by Nero is not the beast that the false prophet deceived the people of the Roman world, into receiving the mark of the beast, that beast is the Roman Empire led by Vespasian, but Nero hadn’t died yet during the time that Revelation was written, so John uses Nero’s name as an identification for the beast that is spoken of in Rev 13:1. The Roman Empire is led by Caesar, therefore the Roman Empire led by Nero is the beast that Rev 13:1 speaks of.

Revelation is not about our time period, everything in Revelation has already happened, everything in the New Testament has already happened.

Revelation is about things that happened before Jerusalem was destroyed, Revelation is about the destruction of Jerusalem, Revelation is about the day of the Lord, the day of the Lord happened after Jerusalem was destroyed, and Revelation is about the “new heavens and new earth” that 2 Peter 3:13 talks about.

The “new heavens and new earth” is spiritual, it is not a new planet, “new Jerusalem” that is spoken about in Rev 21, is the church, the church are the people who believe God’s Son, Yeshua is the Messiah (the Christ), that don’t practice sin.

2 Pet 3:7 isn’t about the planet being destroyed by fire, it’s about people being destroyed by fire, after the nations (heathen world) destroyed Jerusalem, the ungodly people were destroyed by fire. Rev 1:7, 7:14 & 11:2 all prove that Revelation was written before AD70, here is a link to my posts that will show that Revelation was written before AD70 https://bornfromabove7.wordpress.com/category/revelation-was-written-before-70ad/

The “whole world” that is spoken about in Matt 24:14, Rev 12:9 & Rev 16:14 is the Roman world, here is a link to my post that will show that Matt 24:14 & Rev 12:9 & Rev 16:14 are talking about the Roman world, not the planet https://bornfromabove7.wordpress.com/category/revelation-is-about-the-roman-world-not-the-planet/
