Hebrews 1:8 Doesn’t Say Christ Is God

Heb 1:8 is a popular verse that many people use to say, “Christ is God”, but upon further study, Heb 1:8 is definitely not saying Christ is God

Heb 1:8 English translation of the Greek translation – but to the Son, He [God] says, the throne of you, the God, is for ever and ever

Heb 1:8 English translation – but to the Son, He [God] says, thy throne O God, is forever and ever

What we need to understand about the English translation of Heb 1:8 is, the Greek word “O” means “the”, the English translation did not translate the Greek word “O” in Heb 1:8 to the word “the”, therefore the English translation says “O God”, when it should say, “the God”, that’s another error in the English bible, without the word “the” before the word “God”, Heb 1:8 doesn’t make sense.

Heb 1:8 is saying, “the Messiah’s (the Christ’s) throne is God’s throne”, Rev 22:3 confirms that truth

Heb 1:8 English translation of the Greek translation – but to the Son He [God] says, the throne of you, the God, is for ever and ever

Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb [the Messiah] shall be in it.

And if Rev 22:3 is not enough evidence to prove that Heb 1:8 is not saying the Messiah is God, Heb 1:9, and Jn 17:3 also prove the truth that Heb 1:8 is not saying the Messiah is God

Heb 1:9 Thou [the Messiah] hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee [the Messiah] with the oil of gladness above thy companions

Jn 17:3 And this eternal life, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah whom Thou hast sent

The New Testament never says anyone has to believe Christ is God to be Christian, that means that the teaching that says a person has to believe Christ is God to be Christian, is false.

A Christian is someone who believes God’s Son, Yeshua is the Messiah that doesn’t practice sin, that is the only Biblical definition of a Christian, Jn 20:31, 1 Jn 3:9, 1 Jn 5:1 & 1 Jn 5:18 confirm that truth, if anyone says anything different from what those verses say a Christian is supposed to believe, the person is not led by the Holy Spirit.

Jn 20:31 these have been written that you may believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in his name

The statement “in his name” in Jn 20:31 is referring to believing Yeshua is the Messiah, it is not referring to believing in the name “Yeshua”, no one has to believe in the name “Yeshua” to be born of God.

1 Jn 5:1 Whoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah [the Christ] is born of God [born of the Spirit].

1 Jn 3:9 No one born of God practices sin, because His seed [the Holy Spirit] abides in him or her; and he or she cannot sin, because he or she is born of God [born of the Spirit].

1 Jn 5:18 We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God [born of the Spirit] does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over {and} protects him [Christ’s divine presence (the Holy Spirit) within him who is born of God preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one [the spirit of the natural man] does not lay hold (get a grip) on him {or} touch [him].

A Christian is someone who is led by the Holy Spirit, no one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say, “a person has to believe Christ is God to be Christian”, because the New Testament does not say that. No one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say something different from what the New Testament says a Christian is supposed to believe.

If someone claims to be Christian and says something different from what the New Testament says a Christian is supposed to believe, the person is not led by the Holy Spirit, the person is led by the flesh, those who are led by the flesh are not the children of God.

Rom 8:14 – For as many as are led by the Spirit of God [the Holy Spirit], they are the children of God.

In the world today there are many people who claim to be Christian that say it is ok for there to be different denominations in the church, that it is ok for a Christian to believe something different from what another Christian believes, but the Bible does not support different denominations in the church, 1 Corinthians 1:10 says that the church is supposed to believe the same thing.

1 Cor. 1:10 – But I urge {and} entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that all of you be in perfect harmony {and} full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions {or} factions {or} divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions {and} judgments.

1 Timothy 2:5 is a verse that proves Christ is not God, here is the link to my post entitled “Christ Is Not God”, that will explain more.
