No One Has To Be Water Baptized To Receive The Holy Spirit

Eph 4:5 One Lord [Yeshua the Messiah], one faith, one baptism. According to Eph 4:5 there is only one baptism, so baptism is either water baptism or the Holy Spirit. Acts 11:16 makes it very clear that water baptism isn’t the baptism that leads a person to repentance.

Acts 11:15 And as I [Peter] began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them [the non-Jews], just as he did upon us at the beginning.

Acts 11:16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he used to say, John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Acts 11:17 Therefore if God gave to them [the non-Jews] the same gift [the Holy Spirit] as {He gave} to us also after believing in the Lord Yeshua Christ [the Messiah], who was I that I could stand in God’s way?

Acts 11:18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the [non-Jews] also the repentance {that leads} to life [the baptism in the Holy Spirit].

Please notice, that in Acts 11:17 it says how the non-Jews were baptized in the Holy Spirit, it was after they believed God’s Son, Yeshua is the Messiah, that God baptized them in the Holy Spirit.

The non-Jews were not water baptized before being baptized in the Holy Spirit. All they had to do was believe Yeshua is the Messiah, and then God baptized them in the Holy Spirit (they were born from above), that’s exactly how I was born from above 19 years ago, I was not water baptized before God baptized me in the Holy Spirit. I was, however, water baptized after I was baptized in the Holy Spirit because I was under false teaching that said, “a Christian has to be water baptized”, had I known the truth about Acts 11:15-18, I would not have believed that I had to be water baptized because God had already granted me the repentance that leads to life (Acts 11:18), a few weeks before I was water baptized.

1 Cor 12:13 For by one Spirit [the Holy Spirit] are we [those who are born of the Spirit] all baptized into one body

A Christian is someone who is baptized in the Holy Spirit, the baptism in the Holy Spirit is what makes a person born of the Spirit (born from above), without the baptism in the Holy Spirit, no one is born of God.

1 Jn 5:1 Whosoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God

1 Jn 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed [the Holy Spirit] abides in him or her; and he or she cannot sin, because he or she is born of God [born of the Spirit].

1 John 5:18 We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God [born of the Spirit] does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over {and} protects him [Christ’s divine presence (the Holy Spirit) within him who is born of God preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one [the spirit of the natural man] does not lay hold (get a grip) on him {or} touch [him].

The teaching that says a person must be water baptized to receive the Holy Spirit is false, Acts 11:15-18 confirms that truth.

The teaching that says a Christian should be water baptized is false, no one has to be water baptized to receive the Holy Spirit.

The truth is, a person must believe that God’s Son, Yeshua, is the Messiah, and then God willing, God will baptize the person in the Holy Spirit, then after the person is baptized in the Holy Spirit, the person will no longer practice sin because the Holy Spirit is what makes someone stop practicing sin, without the baptism in the Holy Spirit, no one can stop practicing sin, that is why the baptism in the Holy Spirit is the only baptism that saves someone.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God [by the Holy Spirit] which works in you [in those who are born of the Spirit] to both will and to do of the good pleasure.

If a person that claims to be Christian does not stop practicing sin before he or she dies, he or she was never baptized in the Holy Spirit, which means that the person was not born of God.

The New Testament makes it very clear that a Christian does not practice sin, if anyone that claims to be Christian practices any of the things that are listed in 1 Cor. 6:9-10 & Gal 5:19-21, they are not born of God (Christian).

1 Cor. 6:9 do you [those who are born from above (Christian)] not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators [prostitutes, anyone that has sex outside of marriage], nor idolaters [an image worshiper], nor adulterers [a man who is guilty with a married woman, a man who lusts after (covets) another man’s wife (Matt 5:28)], nor effeminate [a man who submits his body to unnatural lewdness], nor homosexuals [any person engaging in same-gender sexual activity],

1 Cor. 6:10 nor thieves [a thief in secret, rather than in the open with violence, an embezzler, a pilferer] nor {the} covetous [greedy of gain, a defrauder, trampling on the rights of others], nor drunkards, nor revilers [reproach (reviling) , injuring another’s reputation by denigrating, abusive insults] nor swindlers [a robber, an extortioner] will inherit the kingdom of God.

Gal. 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality [fornication, whoredom, surrendering of sexual purity, any (every) type of promiscuity, sex outside of marriage], impurity [in a moral sense, the impurity of lustful, luxurious, profligate living],  sensuality [lewdness],

Gal. 5:20 idolatry [image worship], sorcery [the practice of magical arts], enmities [hostility, hatred], strife [a contentious spirit, affection for dispute], jealousy [rivalry], outbursts of anger [anger that comes from the flesh, selfish anger], disputes [selfish rivalry, self-seeking], dissensions [divisions which wrongly divide people into pointless factions], factions [a self-chosen opinion, a religious or philosophical sect, discord or contention].

Gal. 5:21 envying [being glad when someone experiences misfortune or pain],  murders [intentional unjustified homicide], drunkenness [deep drinking, intoxication] carousing [unbridled sexual immorality, debauched partying] and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

In the world today there are many people who claim to be Christian that say it is ok for there to be different denominations in the church, that it is ok for a Christian to believe something different from what another Christian believes, but the Bible does not support different denominations in the church, 1 Corinthians 1:10 says that the church is supposed to believe the same thing.

1 Cor. 1:10 But I urge {and} entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that all of you be in perfect harmony {and} full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions {or} factions {or} divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions {and} judgments.

No one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say, “a person has to be water baptized to receive the Holy Spirit” because that does not agree with what Acts 11:16-18 says.
