The True Meaning Of Faith

The Greek word “pistis” for the word “faith” means “be persuaded”. “Faith is always a gift from God, & never something that can be produced by people. In short “pistis” (“faith”) for the believer is ‘God’s divine persuasion’.”

Ephesians 2:8 – For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment {and} made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;

Ephesians 2:9 – Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]

The word “pistis” proves the truth that no one by freewill accepts Christ, God is the one that gives a person the faith to believe in Christ, since “faith” is a gift from God, it is the believer’s faith, but the believer’s faith does not come from him or her, it comes from God,  which means God is the one that makes the choice in who is saved and who is not.

John 6:65 – no one can come to me [the Messiah] unless it is granted him [unless he is enabled to do so] by the Father.

John 1:12 – But to as many as did receive {and} welcome him [Christ], he gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) his name

John 1:13 – Who owe their birth neither to bloods [natural birth] nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]

The statement “believe in his name” in John 1:12 is referring to believing Yeshua is the Christ (the Messiah), it is not referring to believing in the name Yeshua.

Anyone that believes Yeshua is the Messiah and is baptized in the Holy Spirit, is a child of God. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is what makes a person stop practicing sin (1 John 3:9), if a person is truly baptized in the Holy Spirit, he or she will stop practicing sin.

1 John 5:1 – Whosoever believes Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God.

1 John 3:9 – No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed [the Holy Spirit] abides in him or her; and he or she cannot sin, because he or she is born of God.
