The name “Lucifer” has nothing to do with the devil / satan. Lucifer is an ancient Latin name for the morning star, the bringer of light. In Rev 22:16 Christ calls himself the bright & morning star.
The irony for those who believe that “Lucifer” refers to satan is that the same title (‘morning star’ or ‘light-bearer’) is used to refer to Christ, in 2 Peter 1:19, where the Greek text has exactly the same term: ‘phos-phoros’ ‘light-bearer.’ This is also the term used for Christ in Revelation 22:16.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star [Lucifer] arise in your hearts:
Revelation 22:16 I Yeshua have sent mine angel to testify to you these things in the churches [the seven churches]. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star [Lucifer].
