The Jews Spoke Aramaic

Acts 1:19 make it very clear that the language that was spoken by everyone in Jerusalem was Aramaic. The word “Akeldama” in Acts 1:19 is Aramaic.

In the world today there are many people that say the Jews that were alive during the time that the letters in the New Testament were written spoke Old Testament Hebrew, but Acts 1:19 does not support that teaching.

Acts 1:19 Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so that they called that field in their own language Akeldama [Chaqal-dama], that is to say, The Field Of Blood.

Acts 1:19 make it very clear that the language that was spoken by everyone in Jerusalem was Aramaic. The Greek word “Akeldama” in Acts 1:19 is a transliteration of the Aramaic word “Chaqal dama.”
