Heb 1:8

Heb 1:8 is a popular verse that many people use to say, “the Messiah is God”, but upon further study, Heb 1:8 is definitely not saying the Messiah is God

Heb 1:8 English translation of the Greek translation – but to the Son, He [God] says, the throne of you, the God, is for ever and ever

Heb 1:8 English translation – but to the Son, He [God] says, thy throne O God, is forever and ever

What we need to understand about the English translation of Heb 1:8 is, the Greek word “O” means “the”, the English translation did not translate the Greek word “O” in Heb 1:8 to the word “the”, therefore the English translation says “O God”, when it should say, “the God”, that’s another error in the English bible, without the word “the” before the word “God”, Heb 1:8 doesn’t make sense.

Heb 1:8 is saying, “the Messiah’s throne is God’s throne”, Rev 22:3 confirms that truth

Heb 1:8 English translation of the Greek translation – but to the Son he [God] says, the throne of you, the God, is for ever and ever

Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb [the Messiah] shall be in it.

And if Rev 22:3 is not enough evidence to prove that Heb 1:8 is not saying the Messiah is God, Heb 1:9 also proves the truth that Heb 1:8 is not saying the Messiah is God

Heb 1:9 Thou [the Messiah] hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee [the Messiah] with the oil of gladness above thy companions

John 17:3 And this eternal life, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah whom Thou hast sent

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God

1 John 3:9 No one Born of God practices sin

1 Timothy 2:5 is a verse that proves Christ is not God, here is the link to my post entitled “Christ Is Not God”, that will explain more.

  1. To be honest I’m not sure who wrote the book of Hebrews, some say it was Paul & some say it was Luke, sorry for taking so long to answer your question, for some reason your comment was seen as “spam” and I just figured out how to remove your comment from the spam comments so that it would be shown here.

      • The bible is a book that was written to the church, the letters in the New Testament were written to the early church, the English translation of the bible is not 100% truth.

The New Testament did not exist during the time of the Apostles, the Messiah never said the bible will guide you into all the truth, the Messiah said, “the Holy Spirit will guide you into all the truth (John 16:13)

The Word of God is not a book, it is the Holy Spirit, many people that claim to be from God are not led by the Spirit, those who are not led by the Spirit tell people that the bible is the word of God, but the bible has been changed by man, which proves the truth that the true word of God is not the bible, God’s Word is 100% truth, those who are led by the Spirit know that the Holy Spirit is the true Word of God

Even though the bible has been changed by man, there is still truth in the bible and the Holy Spirit is what reveals that truth, the English bible definitely has errors in it, anyone that takes the time to compare the Hebrew & Greek scriptures to the English translation will see that truth.

No one led by the Holy Spirit will ever say the English bible is 100% true, because that is not the truth, the majority of the people that claim to be Christian say the English bible is 100% true, that shows you how many people there are that claim to be from God that do not speak the truth. A Christian is supposed to stay away from anyone that claims to be from God that does not speak the truth.

  2. That’s a great question, my answer is, those who say the English Bible is the Word of God, are deceived. I was one of those people, I was born of the Spirit 19 yrs ago, but for 18 of those years I was deceived by false teaching, the majority of people that claim to be Christian in the world today have been deceived, what they speak is not the truth that is written in the bible, but instead what man thinks is the truth that is written in the bible.

For example, many say that the gospel has to be preached to everyone on the planet and then the end will come, but Colossians 1:23 tells me that the gospel was preached to every creature under heaven, which means that everything in the New Testament has already happened.

The New Testament was not written for our time period, but the truth about Colossians 1:23 is not taught to people, therefore people believe the New Testament is talking about our time period. The church (the group of people) that speaks false is much bigger than the church (the group of people) that speaks truth, but that’s to be expected because the Messiah said that there will be “many” that call him Lord, that he will deny (Matthew 7:21-23).

As for me, I don’t consider anyone that claims to be Christian that does not speak the truth, Christian, the New Testament does not support different denominations in the church, there is only one church of Yeshua the Messiah and the church speaks the same thing, 1 Cor. 1:10 confirms that truth.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren (the church), by the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
