The True Meaning Of Isaiah 9:6

In the Hebrew Old Testament, Isaiah 9:6 does not say the Messiah is God, the Jews believed in one God, therefore they would NEVER believe the Messiah was God, in fact Yeshua himself said that the Father is the only true God (John 17:3)

The English bible has changed the truth, anyone that takes the time to compare the Hebrew Old Testament to the English Old Testament & the Greek New Testament to the English New Testament will see that words have been changed.

The truth is, the English bible has changed the true meaning of Isaiah 9:6

It has been claimed that the Jews had expected that the Messiah would be God Almighty himself, based on Isaiah 9:6. This is actually an assertion rather than reality. The Jewish Publication Society Bible (JPS) translation renders Isaiah 9:6 as:

“For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pele-joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom; [Footnote: That is, Wonderful in counsel is God the Mighty, the everlasting Father, the Ruler of peace.]” The Hebrew is expressed in this translation as a singular “name”. I doubt that any ancient Hebrew reading this would imagine, assume, and read into this verse that the one being spoken of was being called God Almighty.

John 17:3 proves the truth that the English translation of Isaiah 9:6 is wrong

John 17:3 Now this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God and Yeshua the Messiah whom you have sent

Isaiah 9:6 English translation For to us a child is born, to us a child is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Hebrews 1:8 s a popular verse that many people use to say Christ is God, Hebrews 1:8  isn’t saying Christ is God, here’s a link to my post entitled “Heb 1:8″ that will explain more.

  1. “Yeshua himself said that the Father is the only true God (John 17:3)”

So that was translated correctly, but every other verse that says Jesus is God was not?

If Jesus is not God, who is He?

    • Those are great questions, first off, the letter “J” did not exist during the time of the Apostles, therefore they never said “Jesus is the name of God’s Son”

Yeshua the Messiah never said that he is God, however, he did say that he was a man sent by God & he did say that he is the Son of God, meaning that he is the Messiah

John 8:40 but now you seek to kill me [the Messiah] a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard from God

The New Testament never says that anyone has to believe Yeshua is God, it says a person must believe that Yeshua is the Messiah

when Yeshua asked Peter who he thought he [the Messiah] was, Peter said, “you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matt 16:16) after Peter said that to Yeshua, Yeshua told Peter that he did not receive that by his own understanding, but the Father [God] showed that truth to Peter

John 1:1 is a popular verse that many people use to say, “the Messiah is God”, but upon further study of the New Testament, it is made very clear that John 1:1 is not saying, the Messiah is God

John 1:1 doesn’t say, “the Messiah is God”, 2 Cor 5:19 confirms that truth

John 1:1 English translation of the Greek translation – In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with the God and God was the Word

2 Cor 5:19 God was in the Messiah, reconciling the world [God’s chosen people] unto Himself

If John 1:1 is saying the Messiah is God, then 2 Cor. 5:19 would say, “God was the Messiah”, not “God was in the Messiah”

The truth is, the Messiah was a man born of the Spirit of God, the Spirit of God is what made the Messiah one with God, God was in the Messiah by the Spirit of God that dwelled in the Messiah.

Yeshua the Messiah was & is not God, Yeshua the Messiah is the Son of God

The truth is, no one has to believe Yeshua the Messiah is God to be born of God

To be born of God, a person must first believe that Yeshua is the Messiah and then stop practicing sin

1 John 3:9 No one born of God practices sin

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God

John 20:31 These have been written that you might believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God & that believing, you might have life in his name

The statement “in his name” in John 20:31 is in reference to the name “the Messiah”, it is not referring to the name “Yeshua”, “in his name” is referring to the statement “that you might believe Yeshua is the Messiah”

Matt 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying I am the Messiah

The statement “in his name” or “in my name” in the New Testament is referring to the name that is above all names that God gave His Son, that the name is the name “the Messiah”, that is why people must believe Yeshua is the Messiah

    • Another popular verse that many people use to say, “the Messiah is God” is Heb 1:8, but upon further study, Heb 1:8 is definitely not saying the Messiah is God

Heb 1:8 English translation of the Greek translation – but to the Son he [God] says, the throne of you, the God, is for ever and ever

The thing that we have to understand about the English translation of Heb 1:8 is, the Greek word “O” means “the”, the English translation did not translate the Greek word “O” in Heb 1:8 to the word “the”, without the word “the” before the word “God”, Heb 1:8 doesn’t make sense.

Heb 1:8 is saying, “the Messiah’s throne is God’s throne”, Rev 22:3 confirms that truth

Heb 1:8 English translation of the Greek translation – but to the Son he [God] says, the throne of you, the God, is for ever and ever

Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb [the Messiah] shall be in it.

And if Rev 22:3 is not enough evidence to prove that Heb 1:8 is not saying the Messiah is God, Heb 1:9 also proves the truth that Heb 1:8 is not saying the Messiah is God

Heb 1:9 Thou [the Messiah] hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee [the Messiah] with the oil of gladness above thy companions

      • No, there is not more than one God, there is only one God. But that one God exists as Three different Persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is saying in John 8:58 that He was BEFORE Abraham, Jesus said He came down from heaven:

John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

A mere man cant come down from heaven.

Who did John the Baptist prepare the way for?

According to the Bible, it was Jehovah.

Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

        Mark 1:1-3 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2, As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

John prepared the way for the Lord, Jehovah.

Jesus being the Son of God means He is God.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

    • Hello

“Those are great questions, first off, the letter “J” did not exist during the time of the Apostles, therefore they never said “Jesus is the name of God’s Son”

True, but if I call the apostle Paul “Pablo” (Paul in Spanish) I’m still referring to Paul even though Spanish did not exist in his day.

“Yeshua the Messiah never said that he is God”

      I believe He did.

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Jesus used the name “I am” the Jews knew what that meant, and that’s why they took up stones and cast them at Him, because they knew He was saying He was God, which they considered blasphemy.

      Jesus talking

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

      Jehovah the Father talking

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

“The New Testament never says that anyone has to believe Yeshua is God, it says a person must believe that Yeshua is the Messiah”

      Jesus said

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

I am he is another name of God.

Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed,2 neither shall there be after me.

Believing Jesus is the Messiah means you believe He’s God, because the Bible says the Messiah is God.

Jeremiah 23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

“Another popular verse that many people use to say, “the Messiah is God” is Heb 1:8, but upon further study, Heb 1:8 is definitely not saying the Messiah is God”

      You didn’t quote verse ten

Hebrews 1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

Not sure how a mere man can lay the foundations of the earth, and create the heavens.

      • Ok, then according to what you are saying about Heb 1:10, the bible says that there is more than one God, because Heb 1:9 is God talking to the Son

In John 8:58, Yeshua is not saying that he is God, the words that Yeshua spoke were not his own, they were the words that God gave him to say, when Yeshua said “I am” in John 8:58, those who were not Yeshua’s words, they were God’s words being spoken thru the man Yeshua the Messiah

in John 4:24 Yeshua said God is Spirit, Yeshua was not a Spirit, therefore Yeshua was and is not God, when people worshipped Yeshua they were worshipping God through Yeshua, those that believed that Yeshua was the Messiah, believed in God because Yeshua was the represenative of God, God was in the Messiah (2 Cor 5:19) by the Spirit of God that dwelled in the Messiah, that’s why Yeshua and God were one

Yeshua is not God, Yeshua was a man sent by God

John 8:40 but now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard from God

  2. The Jews never would have believed that Yeshua was God, because they believed in one God (Eph 4:5-6), “One Lord [Yeshua the Messiah], one faith, one baptism [the baptism of the Holy of the Holy Spirit, not water baptism], one God and Father of all, who is over all and in all [in all who are born of God]

Yeshua spoke the words of God, therefore to the Jews that believed Yeshua was the Son of God, Yeshua was God’s represenative, God lived in the man Yeshua by the Spirit (Jn 14:10), “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father abiding in me does His works”, therefore those who saw Yeshua, saw God (Jn 10:30 & Jn 20:28),

John 10:30 I and the Father are one
John 20:28 Thomas said to Yeshua the Messiah, my Lord and my God

Yeshua never spoke his own words, he spoke the words that God gave him to say (Jn 7:16 & 12:49), John 7:16 “Yeshua therefore answered them and said, my teaching is not mine, but His who sent me”, John 12:49 “For I did not speak of myself, but the Father Himself who sent me has given me commandment, what to say, and what to speak”

since Yeshua was & is the Son of God (Jn 9:35 & 20:31), John 9:35 “Yeshua heard that they had put him out; and finding him, Yeshua said, Do you believe in the Son of man? – John 20:31 “these have been written that you might believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God and that believing, you might have life in his name” – the statement “in his name” in John 20:31 is referring to believing Yeshua is the Messiah, not the name “Yeshua”

to worship Yeshua the Messiah is to worship God, those that honor the Son, honor God (Jn 5:23), John 5:23 “In order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father”, those that believe Yeshua is the Messiah, believe in God (Jn 12:44), John 12:44 “And Yeshua cried out and said, he who believes in me does not believe in me, but in Him who sent me” because God sent Yeshua to speak the truth to the people (Jn 8:40), John 8:40 “But now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard from God”.

Yeshua was not equal to God, Yeshua said God is greater than him (Jn 13:16), John 13:16 “Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him”

& Yeshua said God is greater than all (Jn 10:29), John 10:29 “My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all”

the trinity teaching says, God, the Son & the Holy Spirit are equal, but that can’t be true because Yeshua said God is greater than all, & he said God is greater than him, the words that God had Yeshua say prove the truth that the trinity teaching is false

  3. God is the Messiah’s Father, the Messiah is not God, the Messiah came forth from God, that is what made the Messiah & God one

Jn 16:27-28 For the Father loveth you [the disciples], because you loved me, and believed that I came out from God, I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and go to the Father

  4. Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

The statement “I am the first and the last” in Revelation 1:17 is not saying Yeshua the Messiah is God, Yeshua the Messiah is the first and last of the new creation of man, that creation is the born from above also known as born of God, man

Yeshua the Messiah was the first and last man to be born of God, meaning no one but him will ever be born of the Spirit of God from birth, no one but Yeshua the Messiah will ever be born of woman and the Holy Spirit, therefore Yeshua the Messiah is the first and last of that creation of man

Yeshua the Messiah was the first man to ever be born without sin, every man and woman that is born of man and woman are born of sinful flesh, since Yeshua the Messiah was not born of man and woman, Yeshua the Messiah was the first and last man to be born sinless

Many people say, “Christ had to be God in order to pay the price of sin”, but there is no scripture anywhere that says that. Instead all the scriptures declare what was required, “a sinless man”, not God, to give himself to God. God did not sacrifice himself to himself.

Eph. 5:2 and walk in love, just as the Messiah [Christ} also loved you and gave Himself up for us [gave Himself up for those who are born of God], an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

John 8:40 but now you seek to kill me [the Messiah], a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard from God

  5. “Believing Jesus is the Messiah means you believe He’s God, because the Bible says the Messiah is God. ”

That statement is not true, believing Yeshua is the Messiah means you believe he is the Son of God, John 20:31 confirms that truth

John 20:31 these have been written that you might believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God

  6. “Jesus being the Son of God means He is God.”

According to John 20:31, that statement is not true

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 John 5:20 is not saying the Messiah is God, John 17:3 confirms that truth

John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah whom Thou has sent

John 17:3 proves the truth that the Messiah is not God

  7. Admin, I don’t have time to go back and forth, I used to believe Jesus, not Yeshua, is God because that is what man says the bible says, but then the Holy Spirit that dwells in me showed me the truth, I no longer believe Jesus is the name of God’s Son, and I definitely do not believe Yeshua is God because that is not the truth. I believe Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God & I don’t practice sin, which means that I am born of God

John 20:31 these have been written that you might believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God

1 John 3:9 No one born of God practices sin

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God

I have shown you that the bible makes it very clear that Yeshua the Messiah is not God, those who believe that Jesus, not Yeshua, is God, believe in a different Messiah, so please if you believe Jesus is God, that’s cool, but don’t try to convince me of something that is not true, thank you 🙂

The letter “J”didn’t exist during the time of the Apostles, therefore they never said Jesus is the name of God’s Son, they never said you have to say a prayer to be born of the Spirit (Jn 3:8) & they never said you choose the Messiah by freewill (Jn 1:12-13 & Jn 6:65), that means that the gospel that is preached in the world today isn’t the same gospel that the Apostles preached

Gal 1:8 though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you than that which we preached to you, let him be accursed

  8. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the exact opposite of the gospel of Yeshua the Messiah, the gospel of Jesus Christ is false, while the gospel of Yeshua the Messiah is true

The gospel of Jesus says, “say the sinner’s prayer and you will be born of the Spirit”,
Yeshua never said anyone has to say a prayer to be born of the Spirit (Jn 3:8)

John 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit

The gospel of Jesus says, God gave man freewill to choose Christ,
Yeshua said, no one can come to me unless it has been granted from God (Jn 6:65)

The gospel of Jesus says, anyone that believes in the name “Jesus” will be born of the Spirit,
Yeshua said those that believe that He is the Messiah that don’t practice sin are born of the Spirit (Matt 7:21-23)

Matt 7:21 Not everyone that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven [the will of God that the Messiah speaks of, is not to practice sin]

1 John 3:9 No one born of God practices sin
1 John 5:1 Whosoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God

The gospel of Jesus says, “Jesus died for everyone”,
Yeshua said, He was going to die for the sheep (Jn 10:15)

The sheep are the people that believe Yeshua is the Messiah that don’t practice sin

The reason why those that preach the gospel of Jesus Christ suffer persecution is because they are preaching another gospel, Gal 1:8 is a warning to anyone that preaches another gospel

No one led by the Spirit will ever preach the gospel of Jesus Christ because that is not the gospel that was preached by the Apostles

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed
